The story of the 'Lady Dior' is the stuff of fairy tales. A new creation from the House's ateliers, it was presented to Diana, Princess of Wales, by the First Lady of France, Bernadette Chirac, on a visit to Paris in September 1995. Two months later, upon her much documented arrival in Buenos Aires, she was the epitome of modern elegance carrying the Cannage-quilted black leather bag that would become an instant international object of desire, named after her, and without which she would rarely be seen. The fabled handbag has been an incontrovertible icon ever since, emblematic of the House's couture heritage, and lending itself to being endlessly reinvented.
